BTW, I use Arch
In a previous post, “Arch or not to Arch' I was able to manually install Arch and get it up and running except the wifi. On a laptop, that’s not good. So I gave up after a couple of weeks and put Manjaro on it, which is an Arch-type distro and called it good.
Then I saw a youtube video by Brodie Robertson who installed Arch using an installer, something I didn’t know existed. The reason I “manually” installed Arch is because that’s just the way you do it, or so I thought. So I was excited to see an installer called “Anarchy”. Actually, Anarchy has been around for a while but I guess it didn’t work that well.
Anarchy makes everything pretty simple. I was able to go into a terminal and run fdisk to set up my disk drives. I also turned on my wifi and logged into my network. Then I exited back into the installer and continued the installation.
I went with the same tiling window manager as before, I3, just to keep it light. I really like it and am getting better at using it.
Rebooted and found myself in my squeaky clean Arch Linux. Unlike other installers, this one doesn’t automatically load a bunch of software that I may or may-not need, which is good. In fact, it doesn’t even install a text editor. One of the first things I had to install was nano. So now I’m in the process of installing the software that I will use on this laptop… using WIFI of course.
